Thursday night is now the new Friday night because of the fun-filled Team Trivia game at the Brookshire Inn. It is played from 7 to 9 pm while you eat, drink, and be merry. Anyone can form their own team and play for free; you just need to register your team name and you get a chance to win Brookshire gift cards worth as much as $25!
Of course, using smartphones or any Googling device is greatly discouraged. It takes the fun out of the game if everyone gets all the answers right — and might even instigate a bar fight from the super-competitive teams. Although the possibility of that happening in small-town Williamston is close to nil, it’s still best to be honest. It’s just a game of trivia, after all.🙂
The topics for each question vary a lot and may be about sports, history, movies, science (ugh), animal kingdom (double ugh) — you name it. Therefore, it’s best to form a team composed of people from different age groups. Another great thing about living here is that everybody knows almost everyone so you can easily invite people into your team. If you see a walking encyclopedia alone at the bar, pull him/her to your table!
Team Trivia consists of six rounds, with three questions per round, and the final round. The point system makes the game unpredictable because it is up to the team to wager how many points they want for each question. For the first three rounds, you can put point values of 1, 3, and 5 for each round, and for the next half, the stakes become higher with point values of 2, 4, and 6. The final round can make or break you because you can wager as much as 15 points, BUT if you get the answer wrong, any points wagered will be deducted from your score.
So if this blog made you want to go to Brookshire next Thursday, but you’re kinda worried about the questions, well, let me give you a tip. Go to the Team Trivia website and you will find the “Free Question and Answer of the Day”. There you go. You just got yourselves a sweet five-pointer! Don’t worry. No cheating involved here! They do announce this tidbit during the game.🙂
We’ve been going to Brookshire to play Team Trivia for more or less five times now, and so far, we have won … nada!🙂 It’s really a tough game without Mr. Google, and there are just always smarter people around. Geez! They really should find something else to do on Thursdays. =P Oh well, at least we have fun losing and that’s priceless!
