Grandpa Patrick “Grumpy Old Man” Fleser passed away on August 19, 2014 at the age of 81. He had been ill for quite some time but his departure still came as a shock to us. I wasn’t able to meet the other side of Grandpa Pat — when he traveled all over the States, went camping and fishing, and smiled and laughed more often. Nevertheless, I found his soft spot since the first time I met him and he was a big teddy bear hidden beneath that ornery, I-don’t-want-to-see-anyone facade.
His obituary from Dignity Memorial:
Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Patrick Louis Fleser, went to his heavenly home August 19, 2014, at age 81. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Ellen (Lynch) Fleser, and sister, Joyce Farhat. Patrick dedicated 30 years of service to MSU, and was a passionate fan.
